Body Toning Exercises

You don’t have to leave your body toning exercises at home when you head to the office for another long day. In fact, adding some exercise to your workday might just help you think more clearly, focus better, and do your job well. By learning how you can add a few body toning exercises to your work time, you will get ahead both in your career and in your fitness goals.

What You Do Need

What you need for body toning exercises is a space where you can move without being interrupted. For most of us, a cubicle or an office is plenty of room. If you have access to a workout facility at your company, you may want to take advantage of that at some point too. But for now, let’s focus on doing exercises that don’t require that you leave your desk or even bring any equipment with you. Convenience is the key to this particular workout.

Time to Get Started

To begin, you want to get warmed up a little, especially if you’ve been sitting for a long period of time. Try rolling your neck around a little and then moving your arms in circles. This will help get your blood moving and ready to tackle a few simple strength training movements. Now, you will want to follow this simple routine:

  • Upper body push aways – Place your hands on your desk when you’re sitting close to your desk and then push your body away. Admittedly, this works much better if you have a rolling chair. If you have a stationary chair, you can lean into your desk and away from it when you’re pushing.
  • Sitting crunches – Move your chair away from your desk and stretch your legs out under your chair away from your body. Try to bring your knees into your stomach and then back down without touching the ground. You will need to pull your abs in tight to complete this movement. If you have wheels on your chair, be sure you’re holding onto something so you don’t roll away.
  • Stand ups – Moving your chair even farther from your desk, try getting up from your chair, but only slightly. You want to raise yourself up just a few inches and then move back down if you have. Support your hands on the edges of your chair to make this easier.

Easy Enough to Add

To add to your body toning exercises at work, try to take a walk every now and then when you can. This will help you increase your metabolism and begin to make those toning exercises even more effective. Not only are getting away from your desk for a few minutes, easing the stress of the day, but you’re also getting a little cardio workout.

The key to body toning exercises at work is that you don’t have to do that many, but you do want to tense your muscles as much as you can. It’s the intensity of the movement that matters.
